Meteorology 1010 is a 3-credit Liberal Studies Program course in Introductory Meteorology. In this class, you will learn the fundamental principles that govern the behavior of our atmosphere. In addition, you will be given insight into the dut ies and methods of the professional Meteorologist.

Attendance:

There is no attendance policy for this course, however, material on exams will often contain lecture material not covered in the textbook, so attendance is strongly encouraged.

Textbook:

Meteorology Today - Fifth Edition - C. Donald Ahrens - 1994 West Publishing Company

(Although a bit pricier than some of the other Introductory Meteorology texts, this one is extremely user-friendly and readable.)

Exams:

There will be 3 examinations and a comprehensive final. Each of the 3 semester exams will contain 25 multiple choice questions and an essay.

Make-up Exam:

Students with University-allowed excuses for missing an exam are given an opportunity to take a make-up examination. The make-up exam will be the same regardless of which of the 3 semester exams you missed. There will be only one make-up exam given. The make-up exam date and time will be announced toward the end of the semester (it will likely be in mid-April). If possible, please sign up for it before the exam you are going to miss!

Review Sessions:

There will be evening Review Sessions for each of the 3 semester examinations the Monday prior to the exams from 6:30-8:00 PM.

Grading:

3 semester exams: 22 % of final grade each
Comprehensive final exam:	34 % of final grade
