Peter is Director of Client Services. A graduate of Boston College, Peter taught for ten years in secondary schools before becoming Director of Operations for a family restaurant chain. Peter returned to the classroom, first as a scuba instructor, then as a technology trainer for teachers. He served as an LMS director for a private online school and as an education technology consultant. Since 2003, Peter has enjoyed helping Ucompass clients define and realize their business goals.
John is Director of Data Services and is technical infrastructure visionary for Ucompass. With over fifteen years experience in the distance education market, John's passions center on creating effective and technically sound learning environments. During his six years on the UCompass team, John has taken a very hands-on approach while delivering outstanding technical services and support for key clients. John holds both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Anthropology and worked as a professional archaeologist for many years before following his passion for computers and technology.
Julie leads our client services effort with WeatherSTEM. A recent addition to the Ucompass team, Julie is also an entrepreneur and has run several businesses.
Andy is Director, Server Operations and is responsible for the entire physical and networking infrastructure for Ucompass. He also contributes to the planning and deployment of new technology offerings. Andy co-founded Xecunet in 1998 and built it into a premier provider of Internet services and consulting. He has over fifteen years' experience building, running, and supporting complex network environments. Andy holds a degree in Computer Science from Harvard University.
Dan is Executive Vice President of Learning Management Systems Operations. He has over 20 years experience working in a technical capacity with academic institutions in K-12 and higher education. For the past four years, he has guided Ucompass clients through LMS deployments, customizations, technical training, and support, as well as product enhancements. Dan is married with three children. He helps coach the local scholastic chess team and sits on the board of the Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Association.
Bill has represented Ucompass for over 10 years and currently serves as the company's general counsel. Bill is a registered patent attorney and regularly practices in all areas of intellectual property. He has litigation experience in intellectual property disputes, as well as in general civil and administrative litigation. Bill is the founder of Hollimon, P.A., a boutique law firm focused on intellectual property. Bill is married with two sons.
Mike leads the user experience efforts for our products and has over 25 years experience leading designers in the creation of user interfaces, primarily in the area of education technology. In 2006 Mike founded Refresh Tallahassee, a local web design and development organization that has since grown to over 275 members. He also co-organized the ConvergeFL design conference in 2012. Mike has an M.S. in Interaction Communication from Florida State University where he occasionally moonlights as an adjunct instructor.
Steve has more than ten successful years of Information Technology experience, supporting enterprises of varying sizes. Since 2012 he has served as frontline support for Educator. Steve has designed several tools that enable self-support of the Educator system. His backgrounds in technical support and server administration have positioned him to drive forward the database architecture for Ucompass.
Edward is the founder and chief executive officer. He’s led the firm since its founding in 1996. He authored the Educator Learning Management System, Ucompass’ flagship product used to instruct over 2 million students and counting. He has a passion for finding ways to innovate education through technology. In addition to Educator, he architected Octane, a platform for enriching content, and he developed the UcompOS Rich Productivity Framework, a developer framework for building rich portal applications. Recently, he developed the WeatherSTEM platform for combining data from scientific instruments and sensors with STEM curriculum. He has Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Meteorology from Penn State University and a Master’s degree in Meteorology from Florida State University.
Virginia is our New Business Coordinator. She oversees corporate strategy to diligently build successful relationships and meet business goals. As an early member of the company, Virginia helped to define the corporate offering and business objectives. Her experience over the past thirteen years provides her with a deep understanding of and focus on customer needs. Prior to Ucompass, Virginia held positions in product management, and in financial management with Accenture.
Larry is a Florida CPA who holds a Bachelors degree and a Master of Accountancy from Florida State University. He has experience working within a mid-sized CPA firm. Larry has also worked with Pan American World Airways and served as a private company controller in the areas of construction, property management, and manufacturing. He is currently the managing partner of a multi-faceted CPA practice. Larry has also enjoyed contributing his expertise via delivery of continuing education classes for physicians and CPAs.
